EA Sports FC 27 Gameplay: New Defending, Passing and More
Electronic Arts has shared a deeper look at EA Sports FC 27, revealing several gameplay changes that are expected to give players more control during matches.
One of the biggest changes is coming to AI defending. In competitive matches, AI-controlled defenders will focus more on maintaining their positions and helping teammates rather than automatically rushing in to make tackles. This should put more responsibility on the player controlling the defender.
Manual defending is also getting some attention. Players will be able to jockey more quickly, while manually performed standing tackles will have a larger reach. These changes should make it easier to deal with fast-moving attackers and react to attacking plays.
Passing is another area receiving a noticeable overhaul. Ground and lobbed through balls are being adjusted so they respond more closely to the direction selected by the player, rather than automatically targeting available space. Dinked ground passes and dinked through balls will also become fully manual, giving players more freedom when choosing where to send the ball.
EA has also announced changes to other parts of the gameplay experience, including a redesigned crossing system, improvements to creative runs, and updates to corner kicks.
For players who haven't followed the game yet, EA Sports FC 27 is the upcoming football title from Electronic Arts. It will feature clubs and national teams from around the world, along with multiple game modes where players can build squads and compete.
EA Sports FC 27 is currently scheduled to release on September 25, 2026, for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.
